Greening Riverside… and it will co-create:
1 A Local Plan for Nature in Riverside – bringing together all our greening activities.
- Two Urban Leadership courses – supporting local communities take the lead in delivering nature-based activities
- Methods for engaging the diverse communities in the greening agenda – everyone involved in the Local Plan for Nature and the Urban Courses will help us evaluate what works
- A local Plan for nature in Riverside – way of bringing together all the nature-based or greening activities in one plan. It will show what we have already done, what is currently being done and what we would like to do in the future. We don’t have many green spaces in Riverside so let’s make the most of what we have and start to develop any scrap of land, including our gardens, and help make them a place for nature.
South Riverside Community Development Centre (SRCDC) have received Welsh Government funding to create a Local Plan for Nature in Riverside. We will enable the diverse communities in Riverside to participation, co-creating ideas, plans and projects that will form our Local Plan by March 2023.
Get involved, come along with ideas or just some enthusiasm and we can work together. Perhaps you have pulled up some paving stones in your back or front garden and can show others, maybe you would like to see more flowers in the park (pollinator friendly) or maybe bugs or bats are you thing. Whatever you are interested in, and no matter how much nature knowledge you have, come and get involved – Nature in Riverside needs our help!
- Urban Greening courses – This is aimed at residents who are interested in the local environment and how it can be maintained and improved. Are you already active in your community and are thinking about how you could make more of a difference? Do get in touch – these courses will be informal and fun.
Do you have an idea for a corner of Riverside that could be improved?
During the course you will design, plan and deliver your own small project – with
support all the way through. Expert advice will be available to help you to
design your project and collect information about the difference you are
making. Don’t worry if you are not sure what greening activity you would like to do
yet, there will be lots of project ideas that you can make your own.
