Things happening at ACE

  • Helen is the Volunteer Development Officer.
  • ACE is open to the general public again though still maintaining Covid rules.

  • ACE opened a café named Café Barr in memory of their colleague Caroline Barr, who died last year. The café is opening on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-2pm and is run by volunteers.
  • ACE training is back, running CSCS card training and testing, asbestos awareness, manual handling and first aid courses. Contact for more details: 029 2000 3132
  • Their brand new Caerau heritage hidden hillfort centre has now opened in Caerau – watch this space for news of the activities that will emerge in the coming months around food, art, heritage, history and archaeology, in conjunction with Cardiff University and the Museum.
  • Number of volunteer opportunities available, including drivers, compassionate projects volunteers, café and CAER Hillfort volunteers and soon more ‘phone friends’ telephone befriending opportunities.   • They have started the process to gain the ‘Investment in Volunteers’ award. They have lots of work to do as an organisation, but it’s exciting to see what they already have in place and what could be achieved in terms of best practice, and the difference this could make for volunteers and ACE.
