Breeze

Be a champion

We are looking for women across the UK to join our team of Breeze Champions and inspire others to get fit, have fun and ride bikes.

The next breeze champions course in Cardiff is now live and taking bookings so wanted to let you guys know in case you know anyone that might be interested. The course will be taking place at Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff and is free to take part in. However they would need their own bike.

I have included a link to what being a breeze champion entails, however if you (or they) would like to chat about it then I am more than happy to do so.

Cycling

Sharon and Believe/Credu participants went to Mainy Cycle Track following in the tyre tracks of greats such as: Elinor Barker an Olympian and World Champion; Geraint Thomas who won a small Tour in France; Nicole Cooke who was the first British/Welsh woman to win a Gold Olympic medal in a cycling event; Luke Rowe and Owain Doull current members of Team Sky – and many others whom have graced this track {including me!}.

Women’s Diversity event a great success

Places in Riverside and Grangetown

Join Zineb and others on the Walk & Talk Resource walk Friday 19th November at 10 a.m. meet up at SRCDC Brunel St map.

Zineb will guide you on a walk through the area to learn about many of the places and what they do.

Some of the organisations are:

  • South Riverside Community Development Centre -A centre providing workshops and support around employment, training, volunteering, providing a weekly food pantry and many other activities.

  • The Wyndham St Centre, the Riverside Pantry is opposite is the Riverside Warehouse when not opening as a pantry the spaces are open for community events and bookings.

    We have a range of services for people who are:

    • Street homeless
    • Sofa surfing
    • Losing their family or rented home
    • At risk of having their home repossessed

Dear friends you are invited to take part in a lovely free  project for adults (or children working with adults) at Whitchurch Hub – you can create a memory box. 

Looking for a perfect Christmas present? Look no further! Memory Box Art Project with Anthony Evans for adults or children accompanied by and working with parents, grandparents!

Make a box of memories- come and join Anthony Evans at the Library for this Art Project. You will need to bring your personal mementoes, souvenirs and photos (nothing too big!)

First session: SATURDAY 27th. November, 10-12 a.m

Due to Covid restrictions 8 persons only per session. Therefore, first come first served.

Volunteer Walk Leader training with Walking Friends Wales

I’m pleased to confirm the details for the Volunteer Walk Leader training with Walking Friends Wales. The training will be held on Thursday November 25th from 10.00 till 15.00pm, in the Butetown Community Centre, 40 Loudoun Square, Cardiff CF10 5UZ.

The Volunteer Walk Leader training will take place on Thursday 25 November from 10-3pm in Butetown Community Centre, 40 Loudoun Square, Cardiff CF10 5UZ.

All training and DBS checks are free of charge. We have a maximum of 10 spaces on this course. Please get in touch if you can’t make the date, or the event is fully booked, and we will look to book an additional date. What will be covered in the free Volunteer Walk Leader Training?

– Understanding the role and responsibilities of a walk leader

– Creating and risk assessing appropriate walking routes

– Managing a safe and enjoyable walk

How long will it take to do the training and what will it be like?

– The training is from 10-3pm and will be both indoors and outdoors.

– We will go on a walk as part of the training so please come suitably equipped.

– Tea, coffee and lunch will be provided.

– The training and documentation will be in English.

– After the training you will be expected to complete online training in Adult Safeguarding and Equality & Diversity.

– You will be expected to complete a DBS check

What will I get as a Living Streets Volunteer?

– Ongoing support, advice and guidance from the Walking Friends Wales project coordinator.

– A Living Streets Walk Leader manual.

– A Living Streets T-shirt.

– Expenses.
