This week, we had the privilege of welcoming some incredible guests to The Pantry, one of South Riverside Community Development Centre’s (SRCDC) key projects, funded by the People and Places stream of the National Lottery Community Fund.
We were thrilled to host the CEO of Nando’s UK, the CEO of Fareshare UK, and the Community Co-ordinator of Fareshare, who met with our dedicated staff, trustees, and volunteers—the backbone of our service.
The visit allowed our partners to see firsthand where donations and products from Nando’s and Fareshare make a real difference, supporting community food projects that ensure accessible, affordable, and healthy food for local residents.
Our volunteers and staff led an insightful overview of the project, sharing personal stories that highlight how our services impact people’s daily lives. Conversations flowed, ideas were exchanged, and connections strengthened, making this visit truly meaningful and inspiring!
Our SRCDC team and trustees also shared insights into the wider projects we run, illustrating how they work together to uplift individuals, families, and communities. We discussed the importance of food accessibility, healthy eating, and tackling child poverty, reinforcing how essential these initiatives are for long-term, positive change.
A key highlight was introducing our vision for a community garden and growing space at Wyndham St Centre—an initiative that will include vertical and raised growing beds, family learning spaces, and opportunities for individuals and families to engage in plant, food and herb growing activities.
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers! Your generosity, expertise, and tireless dedication make this work possible. Whether it’s sorting donations, assisting clients, or offering guidance, your contributions strengthen our community and inspire lasting change.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Nando’s UK and Fareshare for their continuous support, enabling us to deliver our twice-weekly food initiative that provides nutritious, affordable meals to those in need. Together, we are creating a healthier, stronger, and more connected community!
